What is this?

My Two Cents is a comment section for pages that don't have a fair one: pages with no comments at all, or a comment section that only lets you like something and never downvote it. Install the browser extension and a comment panel appears on top of any such page you visit, letting you read and post comments tied to that exact URL.

Why downvotes

A comment section that only lets you add cents can't tell popular from correct — everything floats, and the loudest or earliest reply wins regardless of merit. Real meritocracy needs a way down as well as a way up: a bad-faith, unsourced, or dishonest take should be able to sink below a genuine one, not just get outrun by it. That's why every comment here can be tipped a cent, or have one taken back.

Where you'll see it

This isn't meant to run everywhere — if a page already has real two-directional voting, there's nothing for us to add there. My Two Cents is built specifically for pages with no comment section, or one that's upvote-only.

Where everything lives

  • Home — what My Two Cents is and how to install it.
  • Browse — a directory of what's on the site: recent pages with active comment threads, recent comments across all pages, and people with public profiles. Use this when you don't have a direct link.
  • A page's thread (/t/...) — every comment on one specific web page, opened by clicking a page from Browse or by sharing a page's thread from the extension.
  • A comment permalink (/c/...) — a shareable link to a single comment and its replies, created by clicking "Share" on any comment in the extension panel.
  • A user profile (/u/...) — a person's public handle and their recent comments across pages.

  • Verified — the account's identity has been confirmed.
  • Curator — helps surface and moderate active discussions.
  • Custom badges — assigned by moderators for notable contributions.
